The life of 37-year-old Gaby revolves around her ornamental chickens, caring for her seven-year-old son Kuif, and looking after her dependent mother, Mientje. And then there’s Bouillon, the ornamental rooster with an inexplicable desire to die. There is little room for surprises. Until the day a hot-air balloon crashes into her chicken coop. Slowly, Gaby and the balloonist, Arnaud, grow comfortable with each other’s presence.
Something begins to develop between them, resembling friendship, perhaps even something more. But when Arnaud confronts her about the lies she tells Kuif, their fragile connection starts to unravel. How much truth can a person bear? And what remains once the lies are gone?
